— Why This Place Matters
Spiritual Significance
Mahanubhav Ashram is devoted to Shri Chakradhar Swami, the 13th-century founder of the Mahanubhava Panth — a Krishna-centred Bhakti tradition that spread across Maharashtra through teachings recorded in Marathi rather than Sanskrit, making them accessible to ordinary devotees. Within this tradition, Chakradhar Swami is revered as a divine teacher whose life and wanderings across Maharashtra are chronicled by his followers. Devotees visit the ashram to take darshan, join daily aarti, and participate in the simple, heartfelt rituals that have defined Mahanubhava worship for centuries — rooted in humility, remembrance, and service rather than elaborate ceremony.
Our Mission
To keep the ashram's sanctum open and its daily rituals unbroken — offering every devotee, resident or visitor, a peaceful place for pooja, aarti and reflection — while serving the wider community through Annadan and charitable seva.
Our Vision
To preserve and share the Mahanubhava tradition for future generations -- maintaining the ashram with care and remaining a trusted, transparent institution rooted in seva.
